How Etsy offsite ads fees work in 2026
Etsy runs ads on Google, Pinterest, Facebook and other external platforms. When a buyer clicks one of those ads and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges an extra fee on top of its regular transaction, payment, and listing fees. The rate depends on your shop's prior-year sales.
Under $10,000 in annual sales, the offsite ads fee is 12% and you can opt out at any time. Once you cross the $10,000 threshold - based on sales in the prior 365 days - participation becomes mandatory and the rate jumps to 15%. Most sellers are caught off guard by the jump.
When should you opt out?
Opt out if your average order value is low, your offsite ads ROAS is poor, or you are safely under $10,000/year. Stay opted in if your offsite ads consistently bring in sales that pay back the 12% fee with margin to spare - check the sales attributed to offsite ads in your Shop Manager dashboard.
Once you cross $10,000 in sales the decision is made for you: you must pay the 15% rate on every attributed sale. Plan for it by building the rate into your pricing or by investing that spend in channels that bring higher-margin traffic.
