Based on the US Etsy fee schedule: $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + $0.25 payment processing, and 0.5% regulatory operating fee. Offsite ads fees vary — use 15% if your shop is over $10,000/year in sales. Free shipping thresholds and shipping discounts are not included.

How Etsy fees work in 2026

Etsy charges sellers a stack of separate fees on every sale, and most sellers only remember the 6.5% transaction fee. In the US, the full list is: a $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the total (item price + shipping + gift wrap), a payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.25 per order, and a 0.5% regulatory operating fee on the item price.

Added together, these take roughly 15-16% of every order before you spend a cent on materials or shipping. That is why a listing priced at your cost-plus-20% is usually selling at a loss. Use this calculator on every product you add, not just once at launch.

Offsite ads fees (12-15%) are different: they only apply when a sale is actually attributed to an Etsy offsite ad. Shops earning under $10,000 per year can opt out and pay nothing. Above that, Etsy requires participation. This calculator lets you toggle the 15% forced rate to see the worst case.

A worked example

Suppose you sell a handmade mug for $25 with $4.50 shipping. The transaction fee is 6.5% of $29.50, the payment fee is 3% plus $0.25, the listing fee is $0.20, and the regulatory fee is 0.5% of $25. After every Etsy fee you keep roughly $23.80 — about 16% lower than the sticker price. Multiply that across hundreds of orders and the gap becomes thousands of dollars in lost profit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy charge sellers in 2026?

Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total, a payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.25, and a 0.5% regulatory operating fee (US). Together these average around 15-16% of each order.

Does Etsy take a fee on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge the buyer too, not just the item price. Check the Etsy Shipping Calculator to see exactly how much that costs.

Is there a monthly fee to sell on Etsy?

No. Etsy has no monthly store subscription; you pay per listing ($0.20) and per sale (transaction, payment, and regulatory fees).

How much does Etsy take if the sale comes from offsite ads?

Etsy takes an additional 12-15% on top of regular fees when a sale is attributed to an offsite ad. Shops under $10,000/year can opt out; larger shops are required to participate at the 15% rate.
