Net profit from Etsy Ads period
$9.48
10 sales · ROAS 2.43x · $15.00 cost per sale
Note: Etsy charges a 15% fee on top of its regular transaction fee for every sale attributed to Etsy Ads (on-platform promoted listings), plus your daily ad spend. Use this to check whether your ROAS is high enough to justify the spend.
How Etsy Ads fees work in 2026
Etsy Ads (formerly Promoted Listings) is Etsy's on-platform advertising system. You set a daily budget, choose listings to promote, and Etsy places them in search results and category pages. You pay your daily budget cap (or less if you run out of clicks), plus a 15% sales fee on every order attributed to an ad click within the 30-day attribution window.
That 15% is on top of Etsy's regular 6.5% transaction fee, 3% + 30¢ payment processing, and 0.5% regulatory fee. So an ad-attributed sale pays around 30% of the order total to Etsy before your own costs. Ads only make sense when the ROAS clears that hurdle with margin to spare.
What ROAS should you target
A common rule: Etsy Ads work when your ROAS is 3x or higher on items with a 50%+ margin. Below 3x, the daily spend eats the profit you would have made from incremental sales. Use this calculator with your real attributed sales and ad spend to see your true ROAS after every Etsy fee and your own costs.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Etsy Ads cost per sale?
Etsy Ads has two costs: your daily ad budget (you set it, often $1-25/day) and a 15% fee on every sale attributed to the ad within the 30-day window. The 15% is on top of Etsy's regular transaction and processing fees.
What is a good ROAS for Etsy Ads?
For most handmade sellers, a ROAS of 3x or higher is the target. That means every $1 of ad spend generates at least $3 in attributed revenue. With margins under 30%, even a 3x ROAS may not be profitable.
How does Etsy attribute sales to ads?
Etsy uses a 30-day attribution window. If a buyer clicks your ad and purchases within 30 days, the sale is attributed to that ad click - even if they bought a different listing.
Can I turn off Etsy Ads anytime?
Yes. You can pause or cancel Etsy Ads at any time in Shop Manager > Marketing. Sales attributed before you cancel may still incur the 15% fee if they fall within the 30-day window.
